Mitch Andrews, a native of Tyler, TX, returned to East Texas 20 years ago. For two decades, he has served his alma mater TJC and the Tyler Junior College Foundation.
In 2019, he was named Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Chief Advancement Officer for TJC. He also serves as Executive Director for the Tyler Junior College Foundation, which recently surpassed $100 million in assets. Over the last decade, assets have grown 192%, and the Tyler Junior College Foundation is considered the largest single support organization for a community college in the State of Texas and one of the top three nationally.
In support of community college advancement, Mitch has served as a past chair for the national conference hosted by the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Center for Community College Advancement. He has previously served on the planning committee and as a presenter for the first CASE virtual conference, which focused on alumni relations for community colleges. He currently serves as Vice President for the Texas Association of Community College Foundations (TACCF) and is chairing the 2022 conference.
Mitch graduated from Tyler Junior College with an Associate in Arts, the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and the University of Texas at Tyler with a Masters in Public Administration. While at Ole Miss, he received two national public speaking awards and presently serves on an advisory council for the Ole Miss speech and debate team, which is part of their leadership institute. Mitch also coaches TJC students as part of the College’s nationally honored speech and debate program.
Twelve years ago, Mitch and his wife, Joan, were given the greatest gift, their son Clayton. They feel blessed to be part of Tyler and East Texas and raise Clayton surrounded by family and friends.
