Director (Position 10: 2018-2020)
Paris Junior College

It has indeed been an honor to serve on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Community College Foundations since 2016 and a member of the Association since 2010.

I joined Paris Junior College in January 2008 as Director of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs at Paris Junior College. My entire business career has allowed me to enjoy the ‘people business’. My efforts center on building relationships with alumni, friends, foundations, faculty and staff of PJC while enhancing the 'friend-raising' and fundraising to further the quality and affordable education available at the college.

In addition, I also oversee the fundraising effort for our Athletic Booster Club, Dragon Pride.

Academically, I am an alumnus of PJC. I earned my bachelor’s degree with a double major in Radio-Television-Communications and Sociology from then East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University, Commerce. I also began my graduate education at the same institution.

PJC is rich in history and I have learned of the many successes which began right here. Now in its 93rd year, PJC is filled with amazing stories from throughout our great country from our alumni and former students. The College 'family' has been generous in 'paying it forward'. Currently the PJC Memorial Foundation has assets in excess of $22 million and provide $1 million in scholarships annually.

Prior to joining PJC, I spend 28 1/2 years working for in hospital and healthcare organizations--a community not-for-profit, a regional faith-based not-for-profit, a national faith-based not-for-profit and a start-up national investor owned healthcare company. I also spent seven years in radio broadcasting/management.

During my time in healthcare, I served as the credit/collections manager, community relations director, public relations and marketing director and director of physician recruitment/retention. As a member of the executive team, I was fortunate to gain great insight and experience in many facets of healthcare and the value that each individual employee brought to the organization.

Over the past 40 years, I’ve had the immense pleasure in ‘giving back’ to the community that I call home. While I never thought I’d EVER come back to Paris, it’s been a blessing. My family and employers have enabled and supported me in many key leadership roles and President or Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Lamar County Child Welfare Board, Paris Visitors and Convention Council, Leadership Lamar County, North Lamar Education Foundation, Dylan's Drivers and Maddie's Gift.

I’ve been married to my college sweetheart, Lesa, for over 39 years and she recently retired from public education after 39 years. We have two amazing kids-D.J., wife Meghan and daughter Mackenzie (8) who live in Lewisville, TX and Haley, and husband Dustin and children Laramy (10) and Mazie Kate (5 months) old, and they live in Paris. I have pictures of all three anytime!
