Mary McQueen, CFRE

Del Mar College

Mary C. McQueen is Executive Director of Development for Del Mar College where she has been in charge of the development, grants and alumni offices as well as operation of the Del Mar College Foundation since September 2010. In her first year at the College, she successfully reorganized her divisions, implemented on-line scholarship application processes, revitalized the alumni program, and raised $2.6 million in new gifts. The DMC Foundation is now in the top 10% of community college foundations with assets of $20 million and the five year average fundraising at $3.1 million per year

Prior to joining the Del Mar College team, Mary was Chief Development officer for the Texas State Aquarium for 11 years where her largest project was raising $15 million to build a marine mammal exhibit. Before joining the Aquarium, Mary was Director of Public Affairs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where she developed and established the image of the University as it transitioned from upper division to a comprehensive 4-year university, winning numerous ADDY and CASE awards for promotional campaigns.

A native South Texan, Mary has a BBA in Management from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She spent five years as editor of three city magazines, Business Monthly, Corpus Christi Magazine and Corpus Christi Monthly.  She has also been a public affairs producer for KEDT-Channel 16, the local PBS affiliate, and Managing Director of a community theater.

Mary has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2005. She has served on the boards of the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Coastal Bend Chapter and is currently on the board of the Texas Association of Community College Foundations.  Mary is a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi and Leadership Texas and has received the 2016 Outstanding Professional of the Year from AFP Coastal Bend Chapter, Rotarian of the Year Award, (2010-2011), Spirit of Rotary Award (2008-2009), YWCA “Y” Women in Careers Award (2005), and Outstanding Alumni Award (2003) from TAMU-CC National Alumni Association.
